Phillies Win Team-Best 18th In April
Roy Halladay shut down the Mets on Saturday to help lead the Phillies to a team-best 18th win in the month of April.
Philadelphia topped New York 2-1 to improve to 18-8.
Halladay allowed one run and walked one while striking out eight to lead the Phillies to their third straight victory. They went 17-5 in April 1993.
Ethier's Hit Streak Reaches 25 Games
Dodgers outfielder Andre Ethier extended his hitting streak to 25 games in the team's 3-2 victory over the Padres on Friday night.
Ethier doubled with two outs in the fifth against Clayton Richard, a left-hander he had only one hit against in 15 career at-bats to that point.
"The first two at-bats he was pounding me in hard, and I was still looking for something out over the plate to hit," Ethier said. "He threw me a sinking fastball down and in, and I just happened to pull my hands in enough, put a good swing on it and put it out there with a little topspin over [first baseman Jorge] Cantu's head and luckily got a hit out of it."
The hitting streak is the longest since Willie Davis' franchise-record 31-game stretch in 1969.
Dice-K Leaves With Injury, Red Sox Lose To M's
The Red Sox had two pitchers to be concerned about after Friday night’s loss to the Mariners, according to a Yahoo! Sports report.
Daisuke Matsuzaka left in the fifth inning with elbow tightness after his velocity fell off from the start of the game. The injury doesn’t appear serious, but he will be checked out more on Saturday.
“I think we think he’s going to be OK for his next start,” manager Terry Francona said.
Bobby Jenks entered in the seventh to protect a lead and couldn’t do it. The struggling reliever gave up two runs and three hits, leaving Boston with its third loss in four games.
Lester Is 14-0 All-Time Against Baltimore
Following Thursday night's win against the Orioles, Red Sox left-hander Jon Lester is now 14-0 against the franchise.
Lester had a hard time explaining why he has dominated Baltimore.
"If I knew the answer to that, I'd do well against everybody," Lester said.
"I just pitch well against this team. ... I just really don't know. I'm aware of the track record I have against them, but I don't know how to explain it. I feel comfortable against them. I really like pitching here at this park, I've always felt good here."
Lester is unbeaten in 17 career starts versus the Orioles and boasts the longest active winning streak by any pitcher against one team.
Zobrist Sets Rays' Record With 8 RBIs
Ben Zobrist set a Tampa Bay record with eight RBIs, hitting a home run and two doubles Thursday as the Rays routed the Twins 15-3 in the first game of a day-night doubleheader.

Ethier Extends Streak To 24 Games
Dodgers outfielder Andre Ethier remains red-hot.
Ethier singled in the fourth inning on Wednesday, extending his hitting streak to 24 games. The streak is an April record.

D-Backs End Oswalt's 10-Decision Winning Streak
The Diamondbacks defeated the Phillies 7-5 on Tuesday, ending the lengthy winning streak of starter Roy Oswalt.
Oswalt had won 10 consecutive decisions.
He allowed five runs on six hits with no strikeouts and one walk. He threw 57 pitches, 36 strikes.
"His stuff wasn't good," manager Charlie Manuel said. "His stuff wasn't crisp and his velocity was down. I figured there was no sense in leaving him out there."
Oswalt said nothing about an injury, but Manuel pulled him after just three innings. He had not been the losing pitcher since a July 30, 2010, outing at Washington.
Kennedy Throws CG After Birth Of Daughter
Diamondbacks right-hander Ian Kennedy threw the first complete game of his career on Monday night in the team's 4-0 victory over the Phillies.
Kennedy's daughter, Nora Rose, was born on Sunday and the pitcher admitted to a lack of sleep.
"To do that, I get really emotional when I start thinking about it being the day after she was born," Kennedy said. "I did it for my little Easter baby and for my wife who did it all. She's a champ."
He struck out 10 batters and didn't walk one.
Ethier Extends Streak To 22 Games, Ties Record
Dodgers right fielder Andre Ethier tied a major league record by extending his hitting streak to 22 games, which matches the longest ever in the month of April.
